1-day sightseeing - Visit Catania

Our tour will start by visiting Piazza Stesicoro, where the Roman Amphitheatre, which dates back to the II century, is located. Going along Via Etnea, we will reach Via dei Crociferi, one of the most beautiful baroque roads in Italy, full of churches, closed at north end by the entrance portal of villa Cerami (which is now the Faculty of Law) and at south end by the arch of S. Benedetto. We will then arrive in Piazza Università where the imposing Central Building of the University is located. The tour continues in Piazza Vincenzo Bellini which is famous because of Teatro Massimo, and we will then reach Piazza Duomo, where we will find “u liotru” (elephant in Sicilian), symbol of the city, and the Cathedral. After going through the typical Pescheria (fish market) we will arrive at the Castello Ursino, that today hosts the civic museum of Catania, and it will be possible to try the tasty meat “panino” which is a typical tradition of Catania (optional). The evening will continue by the suggestive lava stone cliffs of Aci Castello, and after having sipped a cocktail in a lounge bar by the sea, we will end the evening with a walk on the seafront of Aci Trezza.

Details and information: The tour will take place every day, and you can chose amongst three options: morning from 09:30 a.m. to 01:30 p.m., afternoon from 02:00 p.m. to 06:00 p.m. or evening from 09:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. The hotels covered by the pick-up service, round trip, are those in: city of Catania, Misterbianco, Mascalucia, Gravina di Catania, S.Giovanni la Punta, Tremestieri Etneo, Aci Castello, Aci Trezza, Pedara, San Gregorio di Catania, Trecastagni, Sant’Agata li Battiati, Zafferana Etnea, Santa Venerina, Viagrande, Valverde, Nicolosi, Linguaglossa. The gathering places are: Stazione Centrale (central station) of Catania and the central square of Nicolosi (piazza Vittorio Emanuele). When purchasing please write in the space provided the name and address of the hotel where you are staying or the name of the gathering point where you would like to be picked up. The pick-up will start before the times indicated above. You will be informed by telephone of the approximate pick-up time. We suggest you provide a valid phone number, else we will only be able to inform you by email. The pick-up and return times could vary slightly because of external factors. We urge you to be as punctual as possible, because the shuttle bus will not wait for more than 15 minutes compared to the indicated time. The service does not include all that is not specifically indicated under “Service”.

Accomplishments and additional options: Withdrawal is allowed up to 24 hours before pick-up time. The tour may be modified and/or cancelled by the organizer, whose judgement is unquestionable, due to circumstances beyond our control such as: adverse meteorological conditions; changes in road conditions; landslides; inundation of the whole or part of the paths where the excursion takes place; liquidated not suitable health conditions of one or more participants. In all the cases described above the organizer will not refund the Clients for the modification of the whole or part of the service. The Clients will be able to agree with the organizer on a new date without extra costs compared to the price of the tour.
