Trekking with donkeys in the mining park of Floristella, Enna

Pack animal trekking falls under the definition of slow tourism and consists of taking field trips accompanied by donkeys. Donkeys are peaceful and reliable animals and through history they have always been the perfect travel companions!

Today, other than making are travels less heavy by transporting backpacks and other items, they will also be your companions as you will walk through the Erei mountains and the Terra del Mito.

This activity will take place in the Floristella mining park, UNESCO world heritage site.You will visit the ancient millstone, Palazzo Pennisi and the work museum; the mining site with its dwells and galleries, the "Gill" ovens and the sulphurous water fountain of the Rio Floristella. The inner part of the mining site is immersed in a wood of eucalyptuses and pines. You will also see small portions of the original wood composed by of oaks.

During the trek you will take breaks to catch your breath and have lunch, during which you will be able to relax under the oak trees. As you finalise your booking you will be able to add the packed lunch as an extra. The packed lunch includes pane cunzato (seasoned bread), frittatas, water and wine.
