An acronym for Stand Up Paddle, it's a sport that was born in the Australian ocean and has since spread around the world, now a popular sport in Italy. It is a well-rounded sport which has many benefits; a perfect activity for burning calories (up to 1,000 calories per hour if you're in the correct position) and toning abs and buttocks thanks to the controlled movements and need to maintain balance. But it is also beneficial for the mind: moving your body whilst standing on top of the water, looking around and feeling yourself surrounded by nature, all contribute to relaxing your mind and helping you to release all the accumulated stress of daily life. Above all, it's a sport for everyone, including children and the elderly, since it doesn't require any particular athletic preparation: experts affirm that after a few hours of training anyone can learn to stand on the board, and quickly enough you will get good enough to deal with the waves.

FOR LOVERS OF DIVING, an unmissable stop is the popular destination the archipelago of the Egadi Islands, one of the great diving paradises of Sicily, and indeed the entire Mediterranean, thanks to its wide variety of environments, plant species and animals. Among the many places to dive, there is above all the famous Camel Rock, “Scoglio del Cammello”, on the island of Marettimo. With the form of a camel, this stunning rock is home to sponges, false coral colonies, orange corals, fan worms, crown urchins, Protula tubularia and octopus dens. It is a rock full of crevices in which many “guests” stay, and where, depending on the time of day, the light creates stunning effects that any budding underwater photographer will want to capture. Staying on the island of Marettimo you'll be able to go and visit San Simone, “Punta Basana”, the caves of Punta Martina, the Cathedral, the Tuna Cave, “Punta Troia”, and much more. On Favignana the best dives are at “Secca del Toro”, “Scoglio Corrente”, “Galeotta”, “isolotto Previto”, the Previto wreck, “secca Fondale” and “Palo degli Spirografi”.
And then at Levanzo you could dive at “Cala Minnola”, “Cala Tramontana” and “Capo Grosso”.
FOR LOVERS OF DIVING AND UNDERWATER EXPLORATIONS, you wonder what there is to do on Sicily? You're on the right island: the seabed is overflowing not only with nature but also with history.
Not to be missed is the “Christ of the Abyss” offshore from Marzamemi (maximum depth 27 metres), the caves and the rocks off the Island of Capo Passero, the Island of the Currents “Isola delle Correnti” (the meeting point of the Ionian and Mediterranean Sea), the Veniero submarine wreck, and many other ship and aircraft wrecks. Finally there is Taormina, not only a famous seaside resort but also a great destination for lovers of diving. With indeed 18 diving sites and the particular shape of this part of the coastline, you have the chance to customize your dive according your experience and training. The depths are home to many burrowing fish such as groupers, sea ravens, conger and moray eels, but also pelagics such as tuna, bonito, snapper and sea eagles; between the fronds of the spectacular coloured sea fans it's not uncommon to see catfish eggs or meet a big lobster!
NATURE AND HISTORY UNDER THE SEA in the natural reserve of Isola Bella, which houses stunning passages and caves and the famous Roman columns of Capo Taormina. On this stretch of coast, a Roman ship sank more than 2,000 years ago with its load of white marble columns. Today the wreck is a most extraordinary archaeological site, seen only by the privileged few able to dive down to explore and admire.
It is also fascinating to see how nature has taken possession of these submerged remains, indeed some moray eels have made their homes in these ancient relics.
Some twenty metres further is the entrance to a cave full of fan worms and hundreds of cave shrimp; the timid moustelles will be spotted only by the most discrete divers.   Sport holidays and extreme adventures
